Taylor Swift‘s record-breaking debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart with “The Tortured Poets Department” has unsurprisingly been followed by a second week on top. In fact, its first week was so massive that even with a second week drop of 83%, nothing else even came close. It achieved 439,000 equivalent album units for the tracking week that ended May 2 based on its combined record sales, individual track sales and online streams. Those 439,000 album units mark the biggest second week for an album since Adele‘s “25” achieved more than a million in its second week in 2015. Coming in a distant second on this week’s chart, though with a gain of nine-percent, was Morgan Wallen‘s “One Thing at a Time” with 69,000 album units. Dropping a spot to third place was Metro Boomin and Future‘s collaboration “We Don’t Trust You” with 61,000 units. Beyonce‘s “Cowboy Carter” is down one position to number-four with 52,000 units. And rounding out the top-five was Noah Kahan‘s sleeper hit “Stick Season” with 41,000 units.
In our weekly predictions contest, the vast majority of game players correctly bet that “Tortured Poets Department” would remain at number-one and would achieve more than 300,000 album units. But only one of us anticipated that “One Thing at a Time” would bounce all the way back up to second position. Our consensus was correct about “We Don’t Trust You” at number-three, however, while 11 people were right about “Cowboy Carter” at number-four. Lastly, the lion’s share of users got “Stick Season” right at number-five. Ultimately, one user got a perfect score answering this week’s six prediction questions — the lone soul who predicted “One Thing at a Time” at number-two was right about everything else too.
